Computing: Disable internet cookies
A quick how to on disabling internet cookies in your browser.
Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer 4.x
- From the main menu: select View
- Select Internet Options
- Click the Security tab
- Select Custom and click Settings
- Scrolldown to Security
- To enable: Select Always accept cookies
- To disable: Select Disable all cookie use"
- To get a prompt: Select Prompt before accepting cookies
- Click OK
Internet Explorer 5.x
- From the main menu: select Tools
- Select Internet Options
- Click the Security tab
- Click Custom Level
- Scroll down to Cookies
- To enable: Set Allow cookie that are stored on your computer to Enable Set Allow per-session cookies to Enable
- To disable: Set Allow cookie that are stored on your computer to Disable Set Allow per-session cookies to Disable
- To get a prompt: Set Allow cookie that are stored on your computer to Prompt Set Allow per-session cookies to Prompt
- Click OK
Internet Explorer 6.x/7.x
- From the main menu: select Tools
- Select Internet Options
- Click the Privacy tab
- To enable: Slide the bar to Medium-High
- To disable: Slide the bar to Block all cookies (top)
- To get a prompt: Click Advanced, Check the Override automatic cookie handling Set First-party cookie to Prompt, Set Third-part cookies to Prompt
- Click OK

- From the main menu: select Tools
- Select Options
- Click the Privacy tab
- To enable: Check Accept cookies from sites
- To disable: Uncheck/unselect Accept cookies from sites
- Click OK
Opera
Opera 9.x
- From the main menu: select Tools
- Select Preferences
- Click the Advanced tab
- Click the Cookies link on left menu
- To enable: Check Accept cookies
- To disable: Check Never accept cookies
- To get a prompt: Check Ask me before accepting cookies
- Click OK
